Program: Ipstar

Program to provide high speed broadband internet via satellite. Program led by Shin Satellite Public Co., Ltd with China Railway Communication and Baycom (Malaysia).

The program has 2 generations, the first one is based on existing capacity on Thaicom 3 in Ku-band.

Capacity: 40 Gbps. Will enable return channel via satellite. The contract is worth $350 million including the satellite and ground terminals.

In Mar 2002 a $250 million loan was found. The rest ($340 million) will be brought in by the shareholders.
