Developed by a team of small and midsize companies in Higashi-Osaka. Students at Osaka Prefecture University, Osaka University and Ryukoku University provided technological support.

The satellite is designed to observe lightning (cloud cover imager). It has succeeded in observing electromagnetic waves emitted by thunder. The results are expected to pave the way for the forecasting of thunder using multiple satellites.
